A PATTERN 1831 2nd REGIMENT OF LIFE GUARDS DRESS SWORD WITH REPLACED BLADE,

Product Details

A PATTERN 1831 2nd REGIMENT OF LIFE GUARDS DRESS SWORD WITH REPLACED BLADE, circa 1840s with early 20th Century blade, 29 in. single-edged etched nickelled steel blade, ricasso with brass 'proved' plug, hilt with piercings and Victorian cypher to the guard with '2' below, wire-bound leather grip, together with its steel scabbard with brass fittings, exposed metalwork with some rusting, the grip, being leather, is at best a replacement (an original would have been fish-skin), and whilst this appears to be a marriage of an original hilt with a later blade, it cannot be ruled out that this is a full reproduction as it is known that the company "Collector's Heritage" produced 200 copies of this model Sword for the Collector's Market during the 1980s - sold as seen
